ARTICLE VII:   DUES, FEES AND ASSESSMENTS


Section 1  Initiation fees, reinstatement fees, dues, late fees, dues based on earnings and assessments, shall be as established by the membership from time to time in compliance with applicable provisions of the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act of 1959, as amended.

PLEASE NOTE CHANGES IN DUES, EFFECTIVE JANUARY, 2004

Section 2  Except as provided for in Section 7 of this Article, members shall pay periodic dues of $150 on an annual basis.  Quarterly dues are payable in advance during the months of January, April, July and October of each year.  Quarterly dues shall be thirty-seven dollars and fify cents ($37.50) if paid during the first month of the quarter.  If paid during the second month of the quarter, the quarterly dues shall be forty dollars ($40.00).  If paid during the third month of the quarter the quarterly dues shall be forty-two dollars and 50 cents ($42.50).
 
Section 3  Any member whose regular membership dues remains unpaid three months from due date shall stand automatically suspended from membership and shall be required to pay a late fee (per Section 2) to resume membership in good standing.
 
Section 4  Any member whose regular membership dues remains unpaid six months from due date shall stand automatically expelled and shall be required to pay a reinstatement fee in order to reinstate his/her membership.
 
Section 5  Any former member whose regular membership dues remains unpaid one year from due date shall thereafter be required to reaffiliate under the same terms and conditions as a new member.
 
Section 6  Reduced Dues Provisions:
 
(A)     A Youth member (under 21 years of age) shall pay regular periodic dues as set by the Local, and
          work dues where applicable, but shall not pay Local or Federation initiation fees.
 
(B)     Any member aged 65 or over who has had 35 years continuous membership in Local 661-708
          shall be eligible for Life Membership (Gold Card).  Life members shall pay Periodic Dues at the reduced
          annual rate of $65.00 per year (if paid in February, $66.50, and if paid in March, $68.00). Dues can be paid
          quarterly in January, April, July, and October in the amount of sixteen dollars and twenty-five cents ($16.25) 
          per quarter: $17.75 if paid in February and $19.25 if paid in March.  Failure to pay quarterly dues
          will result in suspension. If not paid for two consecutive quarters,  the member shall be expelled.
           Life Members shall be subject to the same obligations and rules and are entitled to the same
           privileges and benefits as all other members.
 
Section 7   All members are required to pay dues based on earnings for all musical services performed.  These dues on local scale wages shall be in the amount of 3% for Casual and Symphonic and 3-1/2% for ElectronicMedia.  These dues based on earnings shall be known as work dues and shall be payable to the Secretary-Treasurer no later than the fifteenth day of the month following the month during which services were performed.  Member-leaders are required to deduct the applicable work dues from their side musician's wages pursuant to written authorization from each side musician to make such deductions.  Member-leaders shall remit the total work dues deducted plus their work dues to the Secretary-Treasurer no later than the fifteenth day of the month following the month which the services were performed.  An accruing penalty of 5% monthly shall be applied to all delinquent payments.  Any member is subject to charges and appropriate disciplinary action for failure to comply with this Bylaw.
