E-Mail   /  215-605-1346

Currently studying South Indian (Carnatic) violin with Adrian L'Armand (Swarthmore, PA).  Also studying voice with Jody Kidwell (Philadelphia, PA).  Began studying violin at age 5 in Suzuki Method (Hurst, Texas).  Studied with Robert Davidovici (Juilliard/Galamian) in high school.  Attended Meadowmount Conservatory; studied with Sally Thomas.  Played with Fort Worth Symphony, age 16.  Attended Harvard and graduated with an English degree, cum laude.  Catherine is also a poet (mainly sonnets), playwright, short story writer, and novelist.  Pursued modeling in NYC for a few years.

Performed with Willie Nelson and kd Lang and plays solo gigs in any style, including strolling/taking requests (classical, jazz, rock, Indian, country, Colonial, Irish, Italian, holiday).  Runner-up in Pennsylvania Fiddle Competition, 2003.  Performed in an Elvis band in front of 14,000 people at Graceland, 1 week after joining the band (Memphis, TN).  Play as improviser in Country, Irish, blues, and rock bands.  Chord progressions of I-IV-V (most fiddle and rock music progressions) are very easy for Catherine to play by ear.  Rap: The South Indian violin goes really well over rap and house beats.  Colonial: Catherine has done extensive musicology research, and assembled 5 binders of pre-1800 music for paid gigs, in addition to memorizing all standard wedding and classical music.  Currently working on 2 projects: a meditation CD of Indian music, and a CD of Irish and jazz ballads.  Resides in Ventnor City, New Jersey (close to Atlantic City).
