BIO
         Melissa Holland has been performing and recording as a vocalist, keyboard player and flutist since she graduated from the Yale School of Music.  She is a familiar face at local venues and showcases, and is known for her conversational lyrics and intimate interpretations of her songs.  She has performed with Pete Seeger, Tom Paxton, and Rex Fowler, and is the former principal flutist with the Bronx Symphony Orchestra, but Melissa loves folk music!
             Melissa is in demand as a songwriter as well as an artist.  She is signed with Arlen Music, Inc. Publishers, and her songs have received airplay in Europe, throughout New York state and the mid-west.  Her CD, Moving Away, released this past October, is receiving rave reviews..  She has been a member of the Songwriter’s Guild Pro-Shop in New York City, the Hudson Valley Folk Guild, and has been  on the faculty of the Swannanoa Gathering’s Contemporary Folk Week in Asheville, North Carolina.
           Other current and past affiliations include:  the Board of Directors of the Howland Center in Beacon, New York, BMI, National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, Women in Music, the National Academy of Popular Music, and Associated Musicians of Greater New York, Local 802.
