WEBSITE SEARCH
OPTIMIZATION
There is a whole science to
site optimization and ranking
Ok, your
website is up, and your webmaster has done his/her job. Your
metatags (those descriptive html markers behind the beautiful page
you see) will be in place for your site to be "crawled" by the
search engines. But you need more than that. After we
have search optimized your website so that it will show up in the
top 20 of for instance, Google (most people don't look past the
first 20), you could help by clicking on the "free search engine"
links below to "free submit" your site. They are usually
located at the bottom of the page!
Google, Yahoo,
MSN, Altavista... but there are many more on the web every day!
RANKING:
Does your site come up first in its category, meaning - if you are
an actor, can you type in actor and see your site in the top ten or
twenty?
No? Don't be surprised. Even if your webmaster has
strategically placed all your html (that technical mumbo jumbo
behind your beautiful page) to optimize it to the max, this may not
happen! You might need more help than that. And we know
how to do it!
Metatags
- Again, those descriptive words on and behind your page that the
search engine crawls and uses to place your webpage(s) has a segment
called "keywords".
** For
example, a trumpet player might have as keywords:
"trumpet,
trumpet player, trumpet cd, musician, free lance, trumpet player,
orchestra, band, jazz, classical"
"Pay
per Click": You could take the one keyword or keyword
phrase you want to be found under the most, in this case "trumpet
player", and check out what the competition is paying for
advertising. Let's just say it's .05cents per click.
To top this, you would have to pay .06cents per click. Then
you can set up a monthly budget to pay for this. There are
several approaches to how it is done. You can either endeavor
to do this on your own by going to:
www.overture.com
or ask your webmaster to do this for you.
Here
you will find some "free submits"... Do this every three months and
if your metatags are in place, you're sure to come up in the search
engines -- for free! |
