Versatile and multi-talented, Steve Tanzer is one of today's top flutists and piccoloists. He has performed and recorded with
the New York Philharmonic, and for twenty three years was
flutist and solo piccoloist of the Chamber Orchestra of
Philadelphia and the Philly Pops with Peter Nero. |

Steve has
also performed with the Minnesota Orchestra, the Baltimore
Symphony, the Miami Philharmonic, the American Ballet, the Kirov Ballet, under noted conductors Zubin Mehta, Erich
Leinsdorf, Mstislav Rostropovich, and Arthur Fiedler, and in
such famous venues as Carnegie Hall, the Philadelphia Academy
of Music, and Boston's Symphony Hall.
A native of
Boston, he earned a Bachelor's Degree from the New England
Conservatory of Music and a Master's Degree from the Philadelphia
Musical Academy. He studied with the legendary John Krell, former
solo piccoloist of the Philadelphia Orchestra under Eugene Ormandy,
and with Lois Schaefer and George Madsen, both formerly of the
Boston Symphony Orchestra.
Equally at home in the popular field, Steve has
performed with Ray Charles, Mel Torme, Bobby Rydell, and Andrea
Bocelli. Since 2002, he has been the featured flutist at Caesars
in Atlantic City, and has also appeared at the Tropicana, the
Hilton, the Trump Marina, and the Borgata. Steve is also president
of Tanzer Headjoint Co., which manufactures fine wood piccolo
headjoints, and is the author/publisher of the bestseller, "A
Basic Guide to Fingerings for the Piccolo". |
