THE POETRY OF GERI RIZZO

JOLIE... a song

Jolie was a young girl and pretty was she,
She wasn't a dummy but she was naive
Along came a young man and sang her his song
And soon she was crooning a tune that was wrong.

The spirit's a fine thing that no eye can see
It flits and it flaunts, it can't be perceived
Of substance it has none, volatility some
One cannot just take it away from someone

All this notwithstanding how tragic it seems
That someone would snatch it and perish your dreams

Jolie is much older and wiser is she
She's learned from life's lessons, she's earned her degree
And at last she is happy and now she is free
To be who she truly is, just naturally

Now life is not easy and life isn't long
So cherish each moment and try to be strong!

And give to your loved ones all the love you can give
To make this world a brighter place to live
And keep yourself focused on the road that you choose

Just get it together - you've nothing to lose...
