The Pineland Symphonic Band,
formerly the "Crestwood
Symphonette", is
a symphonic wind ensemble which
has been
has been providing high
quality musical entertainment
for Ocean County residents
in New
Jersey for over thirty years .
Each
season the band performs for
community groups, retirement
communities, civic events, and
public schools in Ocean County
and beyond. With a rigorous
concert schedule the band
continues the grand tradition of
community bands that will take
you back to the early days of
the last century.
At that time in America every
town of any size featured a
community band which was a
source of civic pride for the
community. The tradition stemmed
from the popularity of military
bands in the mold of the band of
John Phillip Sousa. They
thrilled the nation and the
world with stirring marches,
overtures and popular songs.
Today in Ocean County the
Pineland Symphonic Band
continues this tradition under
the direction of conductor Jack
Milkovitz. Jack is known for
seeking the nuances in symphonic
band selections and directing
the band to display them in
performance. The result is
stunning interpretations of
marches, Broadway music, pop
tunes and traditional jazz
numbers.
The band is composed of
virtuoso-quality
instrumentalists including
former members of the Marine
Band, Army ensembles,
symphonies, music teachers and
other music enthusiasts who
volunteer their time and talents
to make the Pineland Symphonic
Band the best in the symphonic
band tradition. |
